Wen die Finanzkrise überrascht hat, der hat diesen Film aus dem Jahr 2006 nicht gesehen – oder Robert Mannings Buch “Credit Card Nation” aus dem Jahr 2000 (!) nicht gelesen. In allen Details wurde hier bereits vor dem großen Crash aufgezeigt, wie die Banken die amerikanische Wirtschaft nach und nach in den Ruin trieben und wie einfache Amerikaner in einer “Demokratisierung des Kredits” Schuldenberge anhäuften, die sie nicht mehr zurückzahlen konnten. Die American Sociological Association schreibt im Jahre 2007 über den Film:
